The completion of the Funan Underground Pedestrian Linkway (UPL) marks Gulf Asia Solutions Singapore’s entry into a new market.

As a leader in underground space development, Gulf Asia Solutions introduced the Rectangular Pipe Jacking Machine (RPJM) technology in this project, a more environmentally-friendly and less disruptive method.

The UPL consists of a 108-meter tunnel with 68 rectangular segments connecting Funan Mall to Capitol Piazza, allowing direct access from City Hall MRT Station. CapitaLand is the project developer, while Woh Hup-Obayashi Joint Venture serves as the main contractor.

On May 28, 2024, the Land Transport Authority awarded Shanghai Tunnel Engineering Co (Singapore) Pte Ltd the contract for the design and construction of Turf City Station and tunnels for the Cross Island Line.
